MADISON is a cute-as-a-button 12-week-old blenheim coloration COCKALIER puppy who is spayed an current on vaccinations and
dewormer. She is a very teeny tiny little angel who only weighs about 3 pounds currently (2-1-12).
What a sweet little princess she is!!! You can definitely tell she is part Cavalier, as she has that sweet, loving demeanor Cavaliers are
famous for~this is the reason they are called "velcro" dogs~they LOVE to stick to their humans like glue!
When Precious little MADISON was examined by our vet, she was found to have a condition called "luxated patellas", which means
her knees easily float out of the kneecaps. She has a grade 2 on both of her knees. Our vet said that it is possible they may tighten
up some as she grows, but there is absolutely no way to know for sure. He said that, as she ages and becomes an adult, she may
need them to be surgically repaired~there is no way to know for sure at this point, since this type of orthopedic surgery cannot be
done until a puppy has finished growing~normally around the age of 10 months to one year of age. He also said that unless they start
to cause her pain or mobility problems, there is no need to have the surgery at all~and keeping her weight under control helps a lot,
as well, by not creating so much pressure on the knees. It's simply a wait and see type of thing.
Also, please remember....all vets are not created equal~~while some may charge an exhorbitant amount to do this type of surgery,
some may charge quite a bit less, as our vets do. BEWARE~~~ More expensive DOES NOT mean better care!!!! Keep this in mind!!
MADISON is very friendly and playful and enjoys playing with all her doggy friends here at the rescue who are also currently
available for adoption, as well. You would never know she has loose knees by the way she runs and plays! She is wonderful, playful
